Payment Process – Escrow

We’ve been asked why we don’t offer payment processing. The simple reason is that using escrow seems to be the fairest way for two unknown parties to conduct business on the internet [wikipedia].

The big issue doing business on the internet is trust. From our point of view, the best way to handle this is to allow the client to control the process.

By using escrow, the client knows that with a third party holding the $, we can’t walk off with their money without delivering. If we don’t deliver, the client can simply refuse to release the payment.

We don’t ask for payment in advance. Use caution with anyone asking for payment up front before delivering. With $ deposited in escrow, we’re content to wait until the client is satisfied. We’re pretty confident that that will not be long in coming.

If, for any reason, we can’t deliver what we undertake to, we’ll cancel the escrow on request. If we don’t do this, there is a dispute process available to both parties.

We’re pretty sure that once the client has seen the software working for them, payment follows as matter of course. For the odd instance where payment isn’t released when due – it does happen, we have recourse to a process to resolve the situation.
